MiraMate Q&A

MiraMate Joint Aid Q&A

Q: What is the effective penetration depth of this device?
A: 808 nm near-infrared light can penetrate to a MAXIMUM tissue depth of approximately 3.5-4.5 cm (1.4-1.8 inches). However, the effective depth, the maximum depth at which an effect can still be generated, will be determined by numerous factors, including the wavelength and intensity of the beam(s), the physical design of the applicator, the technique with which it is applied, the tissue tip and condition, and the preparation of the area being irradiated. For this specific device, the effective penetration depth would likely fall between 2.5-3.5 cm (1-1.4 inches), although, since the majority of the output is from the 650 nm visible red laser emitters, the light from which has an effective penetration depth of 1-2 cm (0.4-0.8 inches), the treatment time for deeper-tissue targets will be quite long.

Q: Why is it called cold laser? What do you mean “cold”?
A: The technique is called “cold” laser therapy because the low levels of light aren’t enough to heat your body’s tissue. The level of light is low when compared to other forms of laser therapy, such as those used to destroy tumors and coagulate tissue.

Q: How to clean the device?
A: To clean the surface of the device, please use cotton soaked in neutral cleaning fluid.

Use cotton soaked in alcohol to gently clean the light emitting ports or lasers.

Q: What type of diodes are used in this device? LEDs or real laser diodes?
A: MiraMate Joint Aid uses real laser diodes, rather than LEDs. This Cold Laser device has twelve 650 nanometer laser diodes and three 808 nanometer laser diodes – 15 total laser diodes – to enhance effectiveness. Most other devices do not have “dual” nanometer wavelength lasers.

Q: How long do the batteries and lasers last before replacing?
A: The internal batteries and lasers can last more than 5 years under normal use.

Q: How to replace the batteries and lasers?
A: To avoid unnecessary loss, don’t disassemble or repair the device by yourself. The internal batteries and lasers can be replaced for free in the case of quality problems under normal use within one year since purchasing. Please note that the warranty doesn’t cover the damage caused by disassembling.

We can also help you to replace the internal batteries and lasers even after the warranty period. Material and shipping costs will be charged as appropriate.

Q: What is the warranty policy for this device?
A: The device can be replaced or repaired for free in the case of quality problems under normal use within one year since purchasing.

Q: What are the differences between MiraMate Joint Aid and Spooky2 Cold Laser?
A: 1. Spooky2 Cold Laser Wrist has 5 x 5mW 650nm lasers and Spooky2 Cold Laser Twin has 2 x 7mW 650nm lasers. MiraMate Joint Aid has 12 x 5mW 650nm lasers and 3 x 150mW 808nm lasers. It is more powerful, and can target deeper tissues. MiraMate Joint Aid has 2 working modes, 3 levels of power intensity, and adjustable time settings for various treatment requirements.

2. Spooky2 Cold Laser needs to be connected to a Spooky2 Generator. You have to be near a generator and computer during treatment. Conveniently, MiraMate Joint Aid has no troublesome wires. The internal batteries are rechargeable, and last 4 hours per charge. It is fully portable, so you can use the device wherever you need it.
